Tuesday, June 14, 2011, Regular Board of Trustee meeting

 

 

 

Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town Council room at 7:30 p.m.

 

Roll called showed the following present: President Haberkorn, Trustee Birkenbeil, Kubiak, Runyon and Wiles. Trustee Price seated at 7:35 pm, Trustee Miller seated at 8:05 pm.

 

 

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Kubiak to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yea

 

 

A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Wiles to accept the Bid from General Materials, Inc of $11242.50 for the Spreading and chipping of certain streets. 

 

Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yea

 

A motion by Trustee Runyon and seconded by Trustee Birkenbeil to adopt ordinance #402, an ordinance of the Town of Chatsworth, Livingston County Illinois, ascertaining the prevailing rate of wages for Laborers, Workmen and Mechanics employed on Public Works of said town.

Attorney Weeks working on the buy out of lease agreement with Rail America.

 Papers are ready to be served on the nuisance violations at 410 East Hickory.

 Paperwork has been sent to the owner of 509 East Elm to be sign and notarized.

 

Connie Dohman/Chatsworth Historical Society presented the Chatsworth Heritage Days budget and schedule. She thanked the Town Employees for getting the tables up town for the food tent and doing a good job on clean up. Historical Society also requested a donation for the tent rental ($950) and port potties ($420).

 

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Runyon to approve a donation of $1,370 to the Chatsworth Historical Society for Heritage Days to be held June 16, 17, 18th  2011.

A motion by Trustee Runyon and Seconded by Trustee Price to Amend the Water Ordinance #403 as follows: Water shut off after 15 days past due and $80.00 activation/reconnection fees non refundable.

President Haberkorn requested a motion to give the Town Clerk the ability to pay utility bills before approval to avoid late fees.

A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Wiles to approve the above request.

 

  Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea

 

President Haberkorn requested a motion to change the Board Meetings to one per month.

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Kubiak to keep the meeting schedule as previously set for this year: Meetings every second and forth Tuesday at 7:30.

Jerry Kurtenbach/Lake Oliver reported progress on getting more investors for the project, down sizing

The Lake may be a possibility. He also submitted the road maintenance contribution check for May/June in the amount of $1200.

 

Trustee Kubiak reported he is still waiting on bids for the silicone seal for the Town Hall building.

 

Trustee Runyon questioned when the brush will be cleaned up. Superintendent Ledford said they will start tomorrow and have it finished this week before the start of Heritage Days. He also asked if there will be any part time help for mowing. Superintendent Ledford stated that Linda Kenney will be helping again this year.

 

Trustee Wiles said he is getting complaints on the Golf carts, to many people in them not following the rules of the road and underage drivers. There have been complaints of 4 wheelers on the roads also. Officer Heath told him he would report to the Sheriff about this as he patrols at night and has not seen anything. Trustee Wiles asked that he start radar checking for speeders as we are receiving a lot of complaints.

 

Trustee Miller reported that the water committee has been meeting and have chosen the new meters. They are working on water/sewer rates but not finished looking at everything yet. He also suggested that we should buy two pairs of waders for the water department when they have to get in a trench where that water is deeper than their boots.

 A motion by Trustee Runyon and seconded by Trustee Miller to purchase two pairs of waders for the water department.

Superintendent Ledford reported that the weather conditions have to be right for spraying misquotes and his plan is two times per week weather permitting.

 

 

Zoning Commissioner Bartlett reported that there was a zoning meeting on June 7th and he will give his report at the next Board Meeting. He also stated that Randy Edwards resigned his position on the Zoning Board.

 

 

A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Wiles to pay bills as presented and issue vouchers for same.

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Kubiak to adjourn.
