Tuesday, April 24, 2012, Regular Board of Trustee meeting
Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town Council room at 7:30 p.m.
Roll call showed the following present: President Haberkorn, Trustee Birkenbeil, Runyon, Wiles, Miller and Kubiak. Also present was Treasurer Gerdes-Hibsch and Superintendent Ledford. Trustee Price seated at 7:40 p.m.
A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Miller to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea
Sheriff’s Report: There were 41 calls and 16 citations for the Month of March.
Attorney Weeks Report: Sent via fax. The owner of 208 East Cherry talked with Superintendent Ledford about demolishing the vacant house on his property. The Owner asked if The Town would knock the house down, then he would take care of the removal of the waste. The Board agreed that The Town would assist in knocking the house down if he will do the removal and clean up. The Board requested that we have something in writing to this agreement.
Sent a letter to the owner of 202 East Spruce about his abandon property with no reply. The Board agreed to have Attorney Weeks file suit accordingly.
Bench Trial scheduled for April 25, 2012 on the property owner of 33991 East 800 North Road.
Owner of 505 East Walnut scheduled to appear on April 25, 2012 on the indirect Civil Contempt.
Owner of 907 East Maple scheduled to appear on April 25, 2012 on the first appearance.
Owner of 604 North 5th sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 18, 2012.
Main Street Beautification: In order to have the Main Street look as good as it did last year we will have to spend more money than $250.00. The volunteers put in some of their own money last year to try to keep the cost down. The Board agreed that the Town should pay for all the cost. Last year it took around $600.00 to do spring and winter projects. The Board agreed to allow them to spend within reason to have it look as good as it did last year.
A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Miller to allow the Volunteers enough money (within reason) to have Main Street like last year and the Welcome to Chatsworth signs landscaped. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yea
A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Miller to transfer $12500 from the General Fund to the Law Enforcement Fund to cover the quarterly payment for Livingston County Sheriff’s contract. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yea
A motion by Trustee Price and seconded by Trustee Miller to change the regular Board Meeting hours to 7 p.m. standard time and 8 p.m. daylight saving time.
Roll call: Trustee Price, Wiles, Birkenbeil Yea - Trustee Runyon, Kubiak, Miller Nay - Board of Trustee vote 3 Yea / 3 Nay/ tied vote.
President Haberkorn vote Yea. Regular Board of Trustee meeting hours changed as above.
A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Wiles to change the regular Board of Trustee Meetings to 1 per month on the second Tuesday of the month. Board of Trustee votes 3 Yea / 3 Nay / tied vote.
President Haberkorn vote Yea. Regular Board of Trustee meetings changed to 1 per month second Tuesday of the month.
President Haberkorn report: Would like the Board to think about looking into different Engineering firms.
Trustee Price report: The new pagers have been ordered for ESDA.
Trustee Runyon report: There has been seven Cleveland Pear trees planted on Town Property. These trees are ornamentals and will not get big enough to interfere with the power lines. The Royal Neighbors of America want to donate a tree to The Town in honor of Arbor Day.
Trustee Wiles report: We have been seeing improvement on ordinance violations. Things are getting done.
Trustee Birkenbeil report: We need to check with Public Health Department on the water fountain. Trustee Runyon will check into it.
Trustee Miller report: The Library had a successful junk day and are considering doing this twice per year.
Superintendent Ledford report: The water fountain has been ordered let me know if we need to change anything. Who is going to contact an appraiser about the Bridgeforth property? The Board asked Clerk Kerber to check with Jeff McMillan if he does appraisals.
A motion by Trustee Kubiak and seconded by Trustee Miller to pay bills as presented and issue vouchers for same. Board of Trustee vote: 6 Yea
A motion by Trustee Birkenbeil and seconded by Trustee Miller to adjourn.
