Tuesday, April 12, 2011, Regular Board of Trustee meeting

 

 

Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town Council room at 7:30 p.m.

 

Roll called showed the following present: President Haberkorn, Trustee Birkenbeil, Miller, Kubiak, Wiles and Runyon: Trustee Diller and Treasurer Gerdes-Hibsch absent.

Also present was Attorney Weeks and Zoning Commissioner Bartlett. 

 

 

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Kubiak to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea

 

 

President Haberkorn read Clerk Birkenbeil’s resignation letter to the Board of Trustee’s. Effective April 26, 2011. She stated she has enjoyed the opportunity to serve along with many Board members and citizens of our community. Clerk Birkenbeil started May 1, 1989.

 

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Wiles to accept Clerk Birkenbeil resignation as Town Clerk. Board of Trustee vote: 4Yea Trustee Birkenbeil - Pass

 

The town received a thank you letter for a $300 donation to Show Bus to help the people in our town and Livingston County to help continue the service.

 

Attorney Weeks stated he has received from Rail America a option of a one time buyout license for two crossings and a 700+ foot longitudinal encroachment at approximately $20,000. The Board agreed that the town can not afford it at this time and will leave this alone for now.

 

Trustee Birkenbeil and Superintendent Ledford will check streets and review the plans for MFT street work.

 

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Birkenbeil to renew the intergovernmental (road maintenance) agreement between The Town of Chatsworth and Chatsworth Township Road District at the same cost of $4875.00

 

This agreement shall commence on May 1, 2011 and expire on April 30, 2012

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Birkenbeil to schedule the End of Year/New Year meeting at The Town Hall on April 28, 2011 at 7pm.

 

Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea

 

 

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Birkenbeil to spray ditches.

 

Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea

 

 

Trustee Wiles requested that once the Law Enforcement committee is set for the new fiscal year they meet with Attorney Weeks to discuss appointing an Ordinance Enforcement Officer.

 

President Haberkorn has been talking with the Bloomer Line about the RR crossing on Pine Street. Something needs to be done to make this safer Talking about extending the siding; more signs maybe paint the road with a RR crossing warning.

 

Trustee Birkenbeil said Rail America is planning on working on the 4th street RR crossing and is hoping he can get them to take a look at the 6th street RR crossing and work on grant money to fix this crossing too.

 

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Runyon that we pay the lowest estimate on the repair for the car that Superintendent Maxson backed into with the Town Truck.

A motion by Trustee Runyon and seconded by Trustee Kubiak to have Superintendents Ledford and Maxson attend a open house at Cady Aqua Glass.

 

Board of Trustee vote: 5 Yea

 

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Birkenbeil to pay bills as presented and issue vouchers for same.

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Miller to adjourn.
