Tuesday, February 22, 2011, Regular Board of Trustee meeting

 

 

Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town Council room at 7:30 p.m.

 

Roll called showed the following present: President Haberkorn, Trustee Wiles, Runyon, Kubiak and Miller: Trustee Diller and Birkenbeil and Town Clerk Birkenbeil absent. Also present was Treasurer Gerdes-Hibsch and Zoning Commissioner Bartlett.

 

 

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Runyon to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Board of Trustee vote 4 Yea

 

Sheriff Martin Meredith reported that there were 43 calls and 7 tickets issued for the month of January. He also noted that they have increased patrol in our town. Sheriff Meredith said there was a call on unlawful discharge of a firearm - response time was 17 minutes. He feels this was not acceptable. He told his deputies that he wants no more than a 15 minute response time on calls. On this call - within 26 minutes they did have 7 officers on site of the call and the issue was resolved peacefully.

 

Public Correspondence –Complaints on people leaving their garbage set out at the street to early and not secure in cans or tied bags to avoid refuse being scattered by the wind. The Board stated that there is an ordinance on this issue and asked Deputy Clerk to send out a letter to the offenders.

 

Attorney Weeks sent via fax the proposed resolution regarding the use of Town of Chatsworth vehicles for out of town business. He also reviewed the liability waiver for the proposed bicycle competition later this summer and found it is satisfactory. He asked that we also contact the Towns Insurance Company for their opinion.

 

Trustee Miller reviewed the rates on garbage pick up. There has been an increase of the garbage contract because of the cost of using the landfills. He stated that we need a $2 increase per billing period to cover the extra cost.

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Wiles to increase the charge on the water billing for garbage to go from $18 per billing period to $20 per billing period, to take effect on the            April 1 ,2011 billing period.

Treasurer Gerdes-Hibsch requested a motion to approve a Citizens Bank of Chatsworth Visa card in the amount of $2000, to be placed in the employee’s names of: Norma L. Kerber Deputy Clerk, Chad E. Ledford Supt. of Streets and Alley and Stephen A. Maxson Supt. Sewer operations. 

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Wiles to approve the credit card.

Board of Trustee vote – 4 Yea – 2 absent

 

The Board asked Trustee Miller to meet with Supt. Ledford and Maxson to work on this issue of shut offs on some locations.

 

The sealed bid for the 2001 Dodge 1500 4x4 pick up truck was opened by President Haberkorn. Only received one from Full Throttle – bid $275

A motion by Trustee Wiles and seconded by Trustee Runyon to except the bid.

A motion by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Wiles to pay bills as presented and issue vouchers for same.
